How SoonerCare is Changing

SoonerCare members will get their healthcare covered in a new way — through health and dental plans. SoonerSelect members will be provided with health care through a health plan—similar to a health insurance plan. You’ll get the same health care services offered by SoonerCare, but some plans may offer extra benefits to help you improve your health.

This new system is called a managed care system and is a way to deliver more and better healthcare to you. Eligible members moving to SoonerSelect will receive a communication from the Oklahoma Healthcare Authority about the change and how to take action.

What Do I Need to Do?

Choose a health plan. Visit MySoonerCare.org to view the plans, compare benefits and search providers. Then, pick a plan that fits! If you have questions or need help picking a plan, visit MySoonerCare.org or call the SoonerCare Helpline at 800-987-7767.

Your healthcare will be covered through the new plan, beginning April 1, 2024. You have from Feb. 1 - March 10 to choose a plan. This is called “open enrollment.”

Your choices are:

  • Oklahoma Complete Health
  • Humana Healthy Horizons of Oklahoma
  • Aetna Better Health of Oklahoma

OU Health will be in network with all three insurance plans.

Choosing a Primary Care Provider

Once you have selected a health plan, choose a primary care provider. A primary care provider is a doctor specialized in:

  • Family Medicine
  • Internal Medicine
  • Pediatrics

Your PCP can also be an advanced practice provider like a nurse practitioner (N.P.) or a physician assistant (P.A.). You must choose a provider in your new health plan. They will look after your health, refer you to specialists if you need them, and coordinate all your care needs.

  • SoonerSelect Information Sessions: These are virtual information sessions where you can learn more about managed Medicaid. An expert will present a short presentation followed by open question and answer session.
  • Community Health Events: These are events OU Health will be hosting in the community for anyone to attend. We will be offering screenings, vendor information and opportunities to sign up for a primary care appointment.
